FEDEK

By conducting accreditation, evaluation, and outreach activities for the curricula of the Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, Languages, and History and Geography (FEF) across various disciplines, the FEDEK Evaluation Team—which has contributed to improving the quality of FEF education in Turkey, has completed the interim evaluation process for the departments of Western Languages and Literatures, Physics, Chemistry, Human and Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Turkish Language and Literature.

 

As part of the FEDEK Evaluation Program, on March 3, 2024, the evaluation team toured the physical facilities of our University and Faculty and held relevant meetings. The opening ceremony took place on March 4, 2024, in the Ahmet Karadeniz Conference Hall, featuring a comprehensive presentation by our Faculty of Science and Letters Dean, Prof. Dr. Salim YÜCE, introducing our Faculty. The meeting, attended by FEDEK Evaluation Team Chair Prof. Dr. Ayşehan Deniz ABİK, Team Co-Chair Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çolak, Program Evaluators, and Co-Evaluators, also drew significant interest from our Faculty’s faculty members and students.

 

Following the completion of the relevant evaluations, on March 5, 2024, our University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Tamer YILMAZ, along with Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Bestami ÖZKAYA, Prof. Dr. K. Nur BEKİROĞLU, Prof. Dr. Uğur DOĞAN, and Prof. Dr. Umut Rıfat TUZKAYA, and the Secretary General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bekir ŞENER, the evaluations of our departments—which had prepared diligently for the FEDEK Interim Evaluation process—were shared in accordance with FEDEK evaluation criteria.

 

At the end of the meeting, our University Rector, Prof. Dr. Tamer YILMAZ, delivered a brief closing address, congratulating the departments of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences that had completed the Interim Evaluation process and concluding his remarks by expressing his gratitude to the FEDEK team.

 

Emphasizing the great importance they place on FEDEK accreditation, the Dean of the-Literature, the meeting concluded after FEDEK Evaluation Team Chair Prof. Dr. Ayşehan Deniz ABİK presented the evaluation documents to him.

On February 21, 2024, a FEDEK meeting was held under the coordination of our Dean, Prof. Dr. Salim YÜCE, with the participation of all our departments in preparation for the FEDEK audit.

KÖZ1: Prioritizing social well-being, making life easier, upholding ethical standards, emphasizing the human element, contributing to the country’s development, being environmentally conscious, valuing cultural heritage, fostering collaborations, and adding high-quality value to society,

KÖZ2: Pioneering research activities, developing technology, and advancing contemporary knowledge through technological methods,

KÖZ3: Aiming for lifelong learning, fostering analytical thinking, embracing a culture of excellence, being competent in its field, entrepreneurial, inquisitive, innovative, capable of seeing things from different perspectives, well-equipped, self-confident, able to express its own knowledge and skills, and nurturing and fostering distinguished individuals in its field,

KÖZ4: To be a university that produces world-class artistic works, offers scientific solutions, and conducts and implements interdisciplinary studies, innovations, and projects.

FÖZ1: In addition to expertise in the basic and humanities sciences, this initiative promotes interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary (beyond disciplines and multidisciplinary) interaction, by developing and implementing innovative educational models supported by artificial intelligence technologies and digital solutions, enabling them to utilize their knowledge to the fullest extent; and to train experts, researchers, and scientists with advanced problem-solving, entrepreneurial, and lifelong learning skills who can compete at the international level.

FÖZ2: To promote the development and implementation of research models that are aligned with national development goals and international sustainability principles, have a high scientific and societal impact, provide high added value to knowledge and technology production, and generate innovative solutions.

FÖZ3: To support the development of skills in critical thinking and ethical decision-making that will enable students to take responsible actions aimed at fostering environmental awareness, sustainability, accessibility, inclusivity, and well-being; and to foster critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills.

FÖZ4: To establish strong educational and research partnerships with the public and private sectors to assist students in building their careers, enhance their employability and readiness for the workforce, and strengthen university-community interaction by supporting the transformation of the Faculty’s knowledge base into innovative products, processes, and services.

FÖZ5: To enhance the Faculty’s international recognition by supporting the development of international joint research projects, degree programs, and partnerships, as well as the active participation of students and faculty in exchange programs.
