Internship

In the departments of our faculty, mandatory and elective internships are designed to reinforce the theoretical and practical knowledge gained during undergraduate education and are considered an integral part of the educational process; their duration, duration, and subject matter are determined in accordance with the principles set forth in the regulations, specifically theYÖ-103-YTÜ Internship Guidelines” and theDD-091-YTÜ Faculty of Science and Letters Internship Implementation Principles,” and are practical training activities to be conducted at private or public workplaces.

The Mandatory Internship is conducted within the undergraduate programs of the Department of Western Languages and Literature, the Department of Statistics, the Department of Chemistry, and the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics within the Faculty.

  11. The curriculum for students in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics includes a mandatory Professional Internship course.

Important Points to Consider When Applying for an Internship:

  1. Application documents must be prepared in full at least 10 days prior to the internship start date.
  2. All documents must be completed electronically.
  3. Work performed on official holidays and the day before a holiday will not be counted toward the internship period. 
  4. Students may not complete their internship on days when they have classes or exams.
  5. Internships may be conducted during the academic term, summer school, and final exam periods, provided they last at least three (3) business days per week and do not conflict with classes or exams
  6. Internships may be conducted on Saturdays and/or Sundays, provided that a document is submitted showing that the workplace operates full days on weekends. 
  7. Internships may be conducted for a minimum of 3 workdays and a maximum of 7 workdays per week.
  8. The days of the week designated for the internship must remain fixed throughout the internship period. For example: Students who are scheduled to complete their internship on 3 workdays per week—such as Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday—cannot designate Tuesday and Friday as internship days in any given week. 
  9. Students who receive a medical certificate during their internship must submit it to their department within 2 days at the latest.
  10. Students must apply on the dates announced in the “Internship Application Calendar” posted on the department’s website. 
  11. The “Company Approval” section must be completed before applying to the Department Internship Committee on the announced dates. 
  12. For Company Approval: The FR-1877 Faculty of Arts and Sciences Internship Application Form must be filled out completely, stamped and signed by the host organization, and signed by the student. 
  13. If a student fails to retrieve the documents approved by the Department Internship Committee, their internship application will be canceled. 
  14. Students who do not submit their approved documents to the institution where they will be completing their internship on the first business day cannot begin their internship.

Documents the Student Will Receive:

  1. FR-1877 Faculty of Arts and Sciences Internship Application Form, approved by the company and the Internship Committee
  2. SGK Employment Registration Form

 

Documents the Student Must Submit to the Workplace on the First Day of the Internship:

  1. FR-1877 Faculty of Science and Letters Internship Application Form, approved by the company and the Internship Committee
  2. SGK Employment Registration Form
  3. FR-0286 Personnel Record Form
  4. FR-0625 Intern Evaluation Questionnaire from the Host Institution

 

At the End of the Internship:

Within one month of the internship’s completion, the student must submit the following, signed and stamped by the relevant company’s Internship Coordinator: 

  1. FR-1875-Yıldız Technical University Internship Logbook (Daily Format)
  2. FR-0286 Record Form
  3. FR-0625 Internship Host Organization’s Intern Evaluation Survey Form
  4. FR-0783 Faculty of Science and Letters Intern’s Evaluation Questionnaire for the Host Institution 

to the Department Internship Committee by making an oral presentation.

 

Internship Logbook:

FR-1875-Yıldız Technical University Internship Logbook must be completed electronically; the first page must include your photo and personal information, and each page must be approved with a signature or stamp by the company’s Internship Coordinator. 

The report for each workday must be at least half a page long; it may include program output, and the output must be accompanied by a separate explanation.

 

Mandatory Internship Under the ERASMUS Program

 

Students who wish to have an internship completed under the ERASMUS+ Program count toward their Mandatory Internship must submit a written request to the Department Chair upon returning from the activity.

 

Mandatory or Optional Internship Under the National Internship Program

 

Students who will complete a mandatory or optional internship under the “National Internship Program of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey” must, in addition to the documents listed above, submit the “Document Confirming Acceptance into the National Internship Program” (which must be written by an authorized representative of the internship site and approved with an official stamp and signature. However, if a public institution using the EBYS (Electronic Document Management System) has sent a letter to our university confirming the acceptance of an intern under the “National Internship Program,” this document need not be submitted) to the Department Internship Committee at least 10 days before the start of the internship.

 

Mandatory Internship Under the TÜBİTAK Project

 

If a student is a fellow for at least 60 days as part of the “2247-C Intern Researcher Fellowship Program (STAR)” or in a TÜBİTAK-funded research project led by a faculty member of their registered department, provided they have served as a fellow for at least 60 days. In this context, students wishing to complete their mandatory internship must submit the documents listed above and the “Document Confirming Acceptance into the Project” to the Department Internship Committee at least 10 days before the project begins.

 

Requirements for Students Requesting Compensation from the Company for Their Internship

 

According to the Vocational Education Law No. 3308, payments made to students completing an internship cannot be less than thirty percent of the net minimum wage. 

In order for the state subsidy to be paid to the company, a bank deposit slip confirming that the student was paid for the internship specified in the FR-1877 Faculty of Arts and Sciences Internship Application Form (if multiple payments were made to the student in question, the deposit slips must be submitted together with all slips pertaining to that student, not separately) must be submitted to the Directorate of Strategic Development in person or via stgdb@yildiz.edu.tr upon completion of the internship. Payments will not be made to workplaces that do not submit the deposit slips. 

Internships at public institutions and organizations, as well as voluntary (unpaid) internships, are excluded from this scope; students completing voluntary (unpaid) internships at public institutions and organizations are not required to fill out this form.
