The Bachelor’s Program in French Translation and Interpreting trains communication specialists, researchers, and scholars who can apply the knowledge they have acquired in the field of translation studies—including the history of translation, translation criticism, translation theories, terminology studies, lexicography, literary translation, technical translation, audiovisual translation, and machine translation.
The program aims to develop innovative educational approaches based on interdisciplinary interaction and specialization, to continuously strengthen university-industry partnerships, and, in line with its vision of strong international recognition, to promote the exchange of international knowledge and experience.
Graduates of the French Translation and Interpreting Bachelor’s Program are able to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field of translation studies; possess advanced skills in linguistic and cultural analysis and interpretation; are competent in both written and oral translation; and are individuals with well-developed skills in taking responsible action to promote sustainability, accessibility, inclusivity, and well-being, as well as in critical thinking, entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making.
Our graduates, who are mindful of professional ethics, act with social, cultural, and environmental sensitivity; possess the ability to collaborate and interact with different disciplines; respond to the current needs of the language services sector and adapt to future professional innovations; and are well-equipped communication specialists capable of proficiently using AI-assisted translation and related language technologies in multiple languages.

Our graduates can also pursue academic careers by continuing their graduate studies in fields such as translation studies, linguistics, communication, and cultural studies; they can serve as researchers, instructors, or experts at universities, research centers, and in international projects.

who can use translation (science) terminology in different working languages and conduct research related to the field, who are team players and can effectively present their work,
Possessing the ability to set career goals and manage their careers, and adhering to professional ethical values, these individuals are qualified to work in management, scientific research, and applied roles within national and international private-sector and public institutions

Students who successfully complete the program,
(PC-1) As multilingual individuals open to professional and academic development, will act with social, cultural, ethical, and environmental awareness and will be able to carry out the written and oral translation processes of texts in various fields of expertise and of different types—while taking into account meaning, identity, representation, values, and context, in a manner appropriate to the purpose, context, target audience, terminological consistency, and text type.
PC-2) They will utilize the oral and written communication skills they have acquired in various working languages, as well as the background knowledge they have gained in the fields of literature, civilization, language, thought, history, and culture to effectively and consciously carry out processes such as translation, critical discourse analysis, text interpretation, and pre- and post-translation evaluation.
PÇ-3) They will be able to integrate the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in linguistics, semiotics, lexicology, and discourse analysis and criticism, and by analyzing the multilayered structures of meaning in texts through these approaches, they will be able to produce translations and translation critiques that are appropriate to the context and purpose.
PÇ-4) They will be able to synthesize the knowledge they have acquired in various fields using an interdisciplinary approach.
PÇ-5) They will be able to apply the body of knowledge they have acquired in the field of translation (studies) to develop expertise in both intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary specialization areas such as the history of translation, translation criticism, translation theories, terminology studies, lexicography, literary translation, technical translation, audiovisual translation, and machine translation.
PÇ-6) They will be able to use computer-assisted translation (CAT), machine translation, and artificial intelligence-supported translation tools—which are widely used in translation processes—to perform professional tasks such as proofreading, proofreading, and quality assessment in accordance with translation standards, and will be able to evaluate translation quality based on criteria such as appropriateness to the translation’s purpose and context, terminological accuracy, and functionality.
PÇ-7) They will be able to follow scientific and technological developments in translation (science) and related fields, evaluate career opportunities in the field of translation to set personal and professional development goals, and use lifelong learning strategies to achieve these goals.
PÇ-8) While conducting scientific research and professional activities, they will be able to act in accordance with professional ethical principles, quality standards, and universal values, taking into account the potential legal consequences and social impacts that may arise, and guided by a sense of social responsibility and justice.
PÇ-9) They will be able to work effectively both individually and in teams.
PÇ-10) They will be able to conduct literature reviews by accessing reliable information sources in the theoretical, descriptive, and applied fields of translation studies, and design and carry out academic research.
PÇ-11) They will be able to effectively communicate advanced topics, theories, research, and problem-solution pairs in the field of Translation Studies—both in their native and foreign languages—to all stakeholders, both orally and in writing, using the appropriate terminology in the relevant languages.
